Donny Osmond wins Dancing with the Stars
Entertainer Donny Osmond has won the final of U.S. television show Dancing With The Stars on Wednesday. The 51-year-old beat singer Mya and Kelly Osbourne with an Argentine tango performed with professional dancing partner Kym Johnson. Osbourne, daughter of heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne, was the first finalist to be eliminated from the show, a U.S. version of Britain's Strictly Come Dancing. Lady Marmalade singer Mya had been the favourite to win the ninth series, hut in the end it was the 10970's singer who won the praise from judges. Head judge Len Goodman, who also fulfils the role on Strictly Come Dancing in Britain, said that Osmond had "finished strong". Carrie Ann Inaba, also on the judging panel, called the singer's tango "artistry in motion". Sharon Osbourne also won some praise. Osbourne, who was supported by her parents and brother Jack in the audience, was emotional after her last dance and said she had "grown so much" during the show. Co-host Samantha Harris remarked that Osbourne had "become a swan" over the weeks of competition. Although Mya failed in her bid for first place, the judges agreed over weeks of competition that she had displayed the most natural ability on the dancefloor. As for Donny Osmond, he said the show had been a highlight in a varied career. As he accepted his victory he pulled his famous sister Marie, a participant in an earlier series of the dance contest, from the audience to to the stage.
